The Tennessee Attorney General has clarified that Kratom is not an illegal substance in the state of Tennessee. Read his official opinion below, or download here. (Please check with your legal professional prior to selling in this state.)
In August 2016, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) classified Kratom as a Schedule I substance, placing it together with cocaine and heroin. However, there was a great rejection reaction in social networks under the hashtag #iamkratom #keepkratomlegal #kratomsaveslives and the government agency took a step back. The DEA delayed any action on Kratom pending further consultations. That process is still ongoing.
